Company tax returnsand SARS compliance
N&V Accounting & Tax Services prepares ITR14 company income tax returns and provisional tax for companies across South Africa, and keeps their SARS tax compliance status clean. A company must file its ITR14 within 12 months of financial year-end. The standard company tax rate is 27%, with lower rates for qualifying small business corporations.

We check whether your company qualifies as a small business corporation, or whether turnover tax would cost less.
Tax compliance status
We read your eFiling compliance profile, fix what's red and get you a TCS PIN for tenders, clients or banks.
Dividends and shareholder loans
Dividends tax declarations and the tax consequences of loans between you and your company, explained before year-end.
SARS letters and verifications
Requests for supporting documents, verifications and queries answered on your behalf. We also help with administrative penalties, remission requests and, where appropriate, objections.

Red tax status? We'll work out why and fix it
A Tax Compliance Status (TCS) replaced the old tax clearance certificate. Tender boards, corporate clients and banks check it using your tax number and a PIN. Your status turns red if you're not registered for a tax you should be, a return is outstanding, you owe SARS money, or supporting documents are missing.
We pull your compliance profile on eFiling, find each item marked non-compliant, and fix it: file the missing return, arrange the payment, or challenge the status if SARS has it wrong. Once everything is green, we request the PIN.

A South African company must submit its ITR14 income tax return within 12 months of its financial year-end. A company with a February year-end, for example, must file by the end of the following February. If returns stay outstanding after SARS issues a final demand, SARS can impose monthly administrative penalties based on the company's taxable income. Source: SARS.
The standard company income tax rate in South Africa is 27% for years of assessment ending between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027. Qualifying small business corporations pay progressive rates instead: 0% on the first R99,000 of taxable income, then 7%, 21% and 27% on taxable income above R550,000. Source: SARS tax rates.
A Tax Compliance Status (TCS) replaced the old tax clearance certificate. It shows tender boards, clients or banks that your tax affairs are in order. On SARS eFiling, open "My Compliance Profile" and submit a Tax Compliance Status Request for good standing or another purpose. If your registration, returns and debt are all in order, the PIN is issued immediately.
Turnover tax is a simplified tax for micro businesses with qualifying annual turnover of up to R2.3 million from 1 April 2026, up from R1 million. It replaces income tax, provisional tax, capital gains tax and dividends tax with one tax on turnover, and the first R600,000 is taxed at 0%. A turnover tax business can still choose to be VAT-registered. Source: SARS.
In South Africa, "tax consultant" is an informal title, while "tax practitioner" is a regulated status. Anyone who provides tax services to others must register with both SARS and a Recognised Controlling Body. You can check whether a practitioner is registered using SARS's online lookup before appointing them. N&V is led by a registered tax practitioner.
SARS can impose a fixed administrative penalty for each month a return remains outstanding, from R250 to R16,000 a month depending on taxable income, for up to 35 months. For companies it applies once SARS has issued a final demand and the company hasn't responded within 21 business days. Interest and penalties also apply to unpaid tax, and your compliance status turns red.
