N&V ACCOUNTING& TAX SERVICES

Bookkeeping services,reviewed by a CA(SA)

N&V Accounting & Tax Services provides monthly bookkeeping for small businesses across South Africa. We process transactions, reconcile every bank account and keep records ready for VAT, payroll and year-end, in cloud accounting software you can log into yourself. A chartered accountant, CA(SA), reviews the books, so problems are caught monthly rather than at year-end.

What's included every month

The routine work, done on a fixed monthly rhythm.

  • Transaction processing

Sales, purchases, receipts and payments captured and coded to the right accounts, with supporting documents attached.

  • Bank reconciliations

Every bank and credit card account reconciled to the statement each month, so the balance in the books is the balance in the bank.

  • Debtors and creditors

Who owes you, who you owe and how long it's been outstanding, kept current so you can follow up in time.

  • VAT-ready records

Input and output VAT tracked correctly through the month, so the VAT201 is a check rather than a scramble.

  • Payroll journals

Salaries, PAYE, UIF and SDL posted each month and matched to what was declared on the EMP201.

Your books, in software you can see

We keep your records in Sage cloud accounting software, with bank feeds switched on wherever your bank supports them. You keep your own login. You can see your numbers whenever you want, your records don't live on our server, and if you ever move accountants, the books move with you.

Already using a system? We'll work in it. Still on spreadsheets or a shoebox of slips? We'll set up the software and bring the history across.

How monthly bookkeeping works

  1. You send documents

Upload invoices and slips as they happen, or once a month by the agreed date.

  2. We process and reconcile

Transactions are coded, bank accounts reconciled and VAT tracked.

  3. We review and report

A CA(SA) reviews the month and you get a short summary of what changed and anything that needs your attention.

Frequently asked questions

A bookkeeper records day-to-day transactions and reconciles the accounts. An accountant uses those records to prepare financial statements, tax returns and advice. A Chartered Accountant, CA(SA), is a SAICA-regulated professional who has completed an accredited degree, a postgraduate qualification, board exams and a training programme. At N&V, the bookkeeping is reviewed by a CA(SA), so errors are caught before they reach SARS.

AI tools can help categorise transactions and draft reports, and cloud platforms already automate much of the routine capture. But AI doesn't file with SARS, carry professional responsibility or answer for your VAT, PAYE and income tax. A registered practitioner still needs to review the records and sign off submissions. Be careful uploading bank statements to public AI tools, because that personal information is protected under POPIA.

Bookkeeping fees depend mainly on how many transactions you have each month, how many bank accounts and cards need reconciling, whether you're VAT-registered and how up to date the records are when we start. Catch-up work on old months is quoted separately from the monthly fee.

No. If you already use a cloud accounting package, we can usually work in it. If you're starting fresh or moving off spreadsheets, we'll recommend a package that suits the size of the business and set it up for you. The software subscription is normally paid by the business directly, so the account stays in your name.

Yes. We start from the last reliable point, usually the last bank reconciliation or set of financial statements, and work forward using bank statements and whatever documents you have. We prioritise the months that feed an upcoming VAT201, EMP201 or tax return, then bring the rest up to date and move you onto the monthly routine.
